Keep your eye on Joey Logano

In 2007 Joey Logano had the eyes of the NASCAR world turning their focus on him when he kicked off his career at NASCAR's regional level with unprecedented success.

The 17-year old Middletown native rewrote the record books of the Camping World West and Camping World East Series' by winning in his debuts in both of the divisions.

Sunday Logano was at it again, but this time in the ARCA/REMAX Series with a national audience watching.

With the Sprint Cup Series off on Sunday after a Saturday night show in Richmond, the stock car racing on TV Sunday was the ARCA/REMAX Series Carolina 500 at Rockingham Speedway and it was there that Logano put on another one of the shows he's become so famous for.

Logano, a developmental driver for Joe Gibbs Racing, nearly lapped the field at one point in the event, going on to win in dominant fashion in his ARCA/REMAX Series debut.

Logano, driving for car owner Bill Venturini, led 257 of 312 laps run at Rockingham. He easily passed Sprint Cup Series regular Ken Schrader for the victory on lap 308. At one point in the event Logano had nearly lapped the field. Only 5 cars finished on the lead lap.

"We had a dominant car all [day]," Logano said. "Billy and the guys here, they were stout. Started the race and pulled away, got tires on that long run and just about lapped the whole field. I can't enough of these guys here. I had a Joe Gibbs [Racing] crew here pitting me and they got me out in front every time so I couldn't ask for anything else here."

Logano, who won the Camping World East championship last season, turns 18 on May 24 and will attempt to make his Nationwide Series debut on May 31 in the Heluva Good 200 at Dover International Speedway.

Schrader ended up second and Rick Stenhouse third. Camping World East Series points leader Austin Dillon, grandson of Sprint Cup Series team owner Richard Childress, was seventh.
